Eco-Ganesh Utsav
Ganesh utsav is the most celebrated festival across the Maharashtra. The idols of Ganesh that are submerged into water are made up of POP, which makes the water polluted. Also the “nirmalya” of pooja which is thrown away with the Ganesh idol also pollutes the water, which is hazardous to environment as well as people. To stop this Hon. Sunetra pawar has come up with an idea of eco-friendly ganesh Utsav. Within this initiative, people are made aware about the use of more Clay idols rather than Plaster of Paris. The Idols are submerged in such a way that there could be less pollution. Also the “nirmalya” is separated and degraded instead of throwing it directly into water. To make awareness at grass root level, the eco-friendly Ganesh utsav workshops are conducted in schools where the student are taught to make clay Ganesh idol that can be used for Ganesh pooja. Because of this initiative we got good response from people in a way that people brought less POP idols from market and used the idols made up of clay in the workshop.
