The holy city of Tirupati witnessed history as the first National Convention of the Parliamentary and Legislative Committee on Women’s Empowerment (14–15 September 2025) concluded with remarkable success. Graced by the Hon’ble Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Shri Om Birla; the Hon’ble Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Shri Harivansh Singh; and distinguished Members of Parliament and Legislative Assemblies from across India, the inaugural session set a transformative tone.
Over two days of thoughtful deliberations, delegates shared ideas, experiences, and strategies, all centered on the theme ‘Women-Led Development for a Developed India’. The convention paid tribute to pioneering women who contributed to India’s Constitution and unanimously adopted the landmark Tirupati Resolution. This resolution charts a comprehensive roadmap to accelerate women’s empowerment by mainstreaming gender-responsive governance, enhancing allocations for health, education, skills, and entrepreneurship, institutionalizing gender budgeting, and bridging the digital divide.
It also commits to increasing women’s participation in STEM, expanding digital literacy, ensuring cybersecurity, and enabling women to become active creators of technology.
Reaffirming India’s vision for 2047, the resolution positions women’s education, health, safety, dignity, and independence as the very pillars of national progress and the cornerstone of a Developed India.
